Wayne Rooney: Ronald-who?
It seems Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, is indifferent to Cristiano Ronaldo playing again for the Red Devils.
Talking to an English news outlet on Wednesday, 8 September, the 35-year-old Derby County FC manager – who holds the Red Devils’ record for most goals scored – confided that he won’t be watching the 36-year-old superstar player during the club’s home match against Newcastle United FC this Saturday, 11 September.
He and Ronaldo were previously part of a formidable attacking trio, along with Carlos Tevez, who – between 2004 and 2009 – helped Man United secure three Premier League titles and a Champions League win.
Rooney told the publication: “I haven’t spoken to [Ronaldo] since his return and I won’t be going to the game on Saturday.”
The former forward explained: “I’ve got a day off and two of my sons have got their own games, so I’ll be taking them and being a taxi driver.”
However, he does think that the Portuguese talent’s return will be a positive, saying: “His mentality will rub off on the younger players, especially, so I think it’s a great signing.”
